Arabian Business: Sunil John ranks as one of the most influential expats in the Gulf
 
Sunil John has been selected by Arabian Business as one of the top 50 most influential expats in the Gulf region. This is the second such expat power-list by Arabian Business, Sunil has made it on there both times.

The top 50 list was created from a list of over 500 potentials. Those who made it on the list are considered business leaders who are playing a major role in shaping the future of the Gulf. The list contains names from the banking industry, financial markets, media and marketing, retail industry, transport and other key sectors. Sunil is amongst only a few other media leaders on the list that include Edward Borgerding (CEO of Abu Dhabi Media Company); Ashish Joshi (Sky News correspondent for the Gulf), Tim Riordan (MBC), and Marc Antoine d'Halluin (the man behind Orbit Showtime Network).

Sunil John founded public relations firm Asda’a Burson-Marsteller a decade ago. While the Gulf boomed, his was the firm that managed the image of many of the private and public companies making the party swing.

John manages regional operations across eleven Asda’a Burson-Marsteller offices and ten affiliates in the Middle East and North Africa and oversees the agency’s operations across eighteen countries in the region. A former journalist and long-time PR consultant, John has more than 20 years of experience in public relations, the past fourteen in the Middle East.

Asda’a Burson-Marsteller has grown under his leadership into a prominent public relations consultancy that advises the best-known global brands, major Middle Eastern companies and governments.

His current client list boasts prominent local and international institutions including Emaar, where he handles the personal PR of chairman Mohammed Alabbar, Etisalat, MH Alshaya Co, World Economic Forum, Dubai Department of Economic Development, Dubai Islamic Bank, Qatar Olympic Committee, UAE Ministry of Economy, Starwood Hotels & Resort, Air Arabia, Microsoft, HP, Ford, GE and Barclays Capital.

John is also the National Chair of the International Public Relations Association, UAE Chapter.
